Albuquerque, NM…Following a successful inaugural event in 2016, local businesses in Albuquerque stepped up allowing the New Mexico Alliance for Hispanic Education to reach and exceed their tournament fundraising goal of $10,000. Following a solid week of rain, 23 teams of golfers were greeted by sunny skies driving prime course conditions to participate in the 2nd HSF Canyon Club Classic at Four Hills, held on October 2nd. A team from Welch Equipment posted a 12 under score of 60 to win first place honors. Representing the team and pictured above were Steve and Chris Rice joined by Michelle Wix and Zack Johnson. Placing second in the Low Gross division was a team from Shock Top and the Low Net winner, determined by “Blind Bogey” scoring was Budweiser. ” The course was in awesome shape after a week of rain and although breezy conditions made low scoring rare, the folks from Welch Equipment ham and egged and lit it up ,” said Curt Hanlen Tournament Director.
The Canyon Club HSF Classic capped off a successful summer of fundraising through the HSF Tour which featured events at Red Hawk Golf Club in Las Cruces, Las Campanas in Santa Fe and the 31st HSF Angel Fire Invitational. The Angel Fire event is one of the longest continuous Hispanic fundraisers in the state and regarded by many as the finest event of it’s kind in New Mexico. Sponsored by Anheuser Busch Companies, Coca Cola Bottling Santa Fe and Premier Distributing, the Alliance has helped drive over $8,000,000 in scholarships for New Mexico college students since the inception of the tournament series.
